RICE - "Nana with the Reindeer" 9825 Almena Drive, Kalamazoo, Paula's life began August 30, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She enjoyed the nursing profession for many years and also worked with her husband Dave at R & R Group, Inc. Her grandchildren were her special enjoyment in life. Paul's family includes her husband, David E. RICE, whom she married on March 6, 1976 in Kalamazoo; parents, Robert and Meredith FUHRMAN of Kalamazoo; parents-in-law, Gifford and Lorraine SQUIRES of HIckory Corners; daughter, Tami RICE of Fulton; daughter-in-law Kelly SEARS of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren, Nicholas RICE and Sierra SEARS; brothers and sisters and spouses, Roger FUHRMAN, Decil and Melanie FUHRMAN, Stuart and Shelly FUHRMAN, K. Michael and Shannon FUHRMAN, Janice FUHRMAN, Yvonne and Herbert BROWN, and Richard and Debbie FUHRMAN, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Claudann TEBO, Barry SQUIRES, Irene "Dee Dee" RICE and Gloria FUHRMAN; many nieces, nephews, and special friends including Peggy Larson and Penny Zabavaski; and her special pet dog, Luke. Paula passed away suddenly in the arms of her husband on Thursday, October 30, 1997. She was preceded in death by a son, Timmothy SEARS in 1994; and a brother, Jerry FUHRMAN. Friends may visit with Paula's family 6-8 PM Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the Rupert, Durham, Marshall & Gren Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, Lovers Lane at Milham, where a Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 PM Monday. Burial will follow in Genessee [sic] Prairie Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends may share a memory of Paul with her family at the chapel or online at www.rdmg.com.
