Nola was born to Ward W. and Ethel A. (Robison) Wells, January 3, 1935 in Highland Park, MI. She resided in Detroit until the age of 12 when her family was transferred to Kalamazoo. She attended Woodward Junior High School and graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1952. After graduation she was employed by the Kalamazoo Sled Company. In December of 1952 she was married to the love of her life, Robert (Benny, Bear, Bobby) L. Bryan, Jr. From that happy marriage came two sons, Steven Ward (Julie) Bryan of Ventura, California and Robert Wesley (Jackie) Bryan of Otsego. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amanda, Elyse, and Michelle Bryan of Ventura, California and Robert and Renee Bryan of Otsego, Michigan and two honorary grandsons, Michael and Mark Beverly of Kalamazoo. She is also survived by two sisters, Cynthia (Donald) Verhage and Pamela (William) Ingraham both of Kalamazoo; three brothers-in-law, Fredrick (Linda) Bryan of Portage, John (Terri) Bryan of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jack (Polly) Schiebergen of Hart, MI and one sister-in-law, Linda Hyson of Huntington, IN; fifteen nieces and nephews and seven grand nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Mrs Bryan was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and three infants, two of whom died at birth and Jane Ellen, who died at 2 months of age. Nola was also employed by Kalamazoo Laundry, Brakeman Accounting and Gelbaugh & Gelbaugh CPA's from which she retired in 1995. She was a member of Portage First United Methodist Church, the Margaret Circle, the WOM #350, former member of States Golf Course, a member of the Portage Senior Center and she belonged to a Bunco group as well as a birthday club and yearly ornament exchange group. She enjoyed playing cards, games, golf, volunteering at church, traveling to Vegas with her sisters and friends and husband but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, July 7th from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM at the Langeland family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage and 1-hour prior to services, at the church, on Tuesday, from 10-11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, 11:00 AM at the Portage First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Ever-Rest Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S.
