Just in case you're interested in some Kalamazoo County history, my Keyes and Page families spent some generations of time there. The Keyes family was closely tied to the Carney and Powers families through marriage and association. In fact, old John Carney, patriarch of the Michigan Carneys, came from Niagara Co., NY, where he and his large family had been neighbors of my ancestor the widow Hannah (Francis) Keyes. Hannah came to Section 17 of Climax, Kalamazoo Co., MI in the mid-1830s to become a schoolteacher and was again a neighbor of John Carney. She married widowwer George Fletcher who had brought his family from Virginia and they subsequently settled in Prairie Ronde. John Carney's son Samuel, who had married Hannah's daughter Mary Keyes, was the first person buried in the Gilson Cemetery according to "History of Kalamazoo county, Michigan." Are the Keyes, Key families mentioned connected to Francis Scott Key, who wrote the words of our national anthem? --- "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to > this mailing list. > > Author: cpaige169 > Surnames: Page, Keyes > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.kalamazoo/15801.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Thanks again for the tip(s). > > Just in case you're interested in some Kalamazoo > County history, my Keyes and Page families spent > some generations of time there.
