JoAnn was born July 25, 1934 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Edward and Martha Halladay. She worked with the Portage Police Department for nearly 40 years as a Crossing Guard, and nearly 40 years with the Portage Public Schools at Lake Center Elementary. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, and sitting around the campfire. JoAnn was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Portage Moose Lodge, and the American Legion. On November 19, 1952, JoAnn was united in marriage to her loving husband, Darwin Paffhausen who preceded her in December of 1994. Surviving JoAnn are her children; Danny (Patricia) Paffhausen of Milwaukee, WI, Peggy (Dennis) Dietz of Comstock, Diane Tregaskis of N. Kingston, RI, John (Nancy) Paffhausen of Vicksburg and Kathy (Terry) Cowgill of Paw Paw; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Martha Halladay; a brother and sister, Lee (Sue) Halladay, Bertha (Lloyd) Bush; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family on Monday from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Rosary at 7:00PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., Portage. Services will be held at 11:30AM Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1150 W. Centre, with Fr. Kevin Covert, Celebrant. Friends may also greet the family at church from 10:30-11:30 on Tuesday.
