Age 83 Of Lehigh Acres, FL Formerly of Kalamazoo Duane A. Northam, 83, of Lehigh Acres, FL, passed away on July 3, 2008. Duane was born April 20, 1925 in East Leroy, Michigan, the son of Foist and Helena (Troeger) Northam. He served in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Lorna Lou Barnes on January 9, 1946 in Fulton, MI. Together they raised their three children and farmed 107 acres in the Texas Corners area. In 1977 they moved to Lehigh Acres, FL where he worked for Flex Bon Paints until his retirement. He enjoyed fast-pitch softball, golf, working in his yard, painting with oils and putting together puzzles. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Lorna; his grandson Tim Hodges; his brother, Foist Northam; and his sister, Thelma Tobin. He is survived by his three children, Marcia Northam of Cape Coral, FL, Doug (Reenie) Northam of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Terry (Lisa) Northam of Kalamazoo, MI. Duane leaves six grandchildren, Theresa and Julie Owen, Justin, Travis, Steven (Nicole) and Tyler Northam; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kyle. A graveside service will held Thursday, July 10th at 1 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 7/6/2008.
