Dena was born September 9, 1906 in The Netherlands, the daughter of john and Elberta (BOUWMAN) RYSENGA, and was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. On June 25, 1930 she was united in marriage to Dr. Thomas SCHRIER, MD, who preceded her in death on September 6, 1968. She was also preceded by 3 brothers, Jacob, Thomas and Herman RYSENGA; and by 2 sisters, Eltena DEKOEKKOEK and Elizabeth SCHASCHECK. Surviving are 3 daughters, Julia Jane (William) NIKITAS of Portage, Beverly Joyce (Rolland) HOARE of Parchment, Shirley Ann (William) CORUM of Avon Park, FL; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00 Thursday May 29 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Rev. Mr. George Coon of Northeastern Baptist church officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the chapel on Tuesday! from 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
