If Daniel lived in Kent County, check the Kent County Probate Court Index. See if he was involved in ANY case, during the time period when he entered the asylum. A judge from Kent County could have sent him to the hospital: a committal order. You could ask or request copies of the papers in his file. That probably will answer the questions you have. Susanne _mikalama-request@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:mikalama-request@rootsweb.com) writes: Sure, Id appreciate any help: Daniel P. Sullivan. However, as I noted, he was from Kent County, and would not have attracted any notoriety by his presence in Kalamazoo. And, I doubt that there was anything newsworthy about it.

Person was from Kent County, was at Kalamazoo by the mid 1870s (was there until 1929), and the census records indicate that he was not a private pay patient. Any suggestions? I am certain he has descendants and would like to share genealogical information with them and information about his pottery for an article I am writing. My great great Uncle was his business partner when he came from Holland. Thank you for any hints you might give me as to his descendants.
