BRAZEE - Alamo Township, Passed away Friday October 27, 1995. Mrs. BRAZEE was born August 24, 1921 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Clyde and Edythe (NEWBREE) FULLER. She was retired from the Georgia Pacific Paper Company and for many years helped dispatch calls for the Alamo Township Fire Dept. She was a member of the Alamo Congregational Church and the Shamrock Rebecca Lodge #575. On February 27, 1940 in Kalamazoo, she married Otis BRAZEE and he preceded her in death in 1989. Surviving are three sons, 1 daughter and their spouses; Lee and Judy BRAZEE, Walter BRAZEE, Mary Lou SUMNER, all of Kalamazoo, Kenneth and Kathy BRAZEE of Gillette, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Rodney, Matthew, Mark, Andy, Matthew, Mark, Andy, Kristi, Ryan and Kenny; 1 brother, Walter FULLER of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may meet the family Sunday 3 to 5 pm and Monday 7 and 9 pm at the Winkel Funeral Home Otsego where services will be held Tuesday a! t 1:30 pm. The Reverend Stephen W. Tucker officiating. "Bill" Age 70 Of Augusta Died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Battle Creek Health System. He was born on July 20, 1937 the son of Donald and Dorothy Shupp. Bill served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill married Donna Sherman at Lake Doster on August 24, 2002; she survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Kim (Matthew) Mitchell-Shupp of Hickory Corners, Kris (Tony) Morlan and Katherine Chadwick, both of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; Donna's two children, Arlene Chapman of Galesburg and her son, John (Debi) Chapman of Grand Rapids and Russell Sherman of Plainwell; a brother, Dave (Charles) Shupp of Florida and two sisters, Judy Latzel and Jan (William) Coleman, both of Arizona. A true outdoorsman and lover of nature, Bill enjoyed fishing and birds. He was a great handyman and enjoyed working on houses. Bill was a homebody and loved children and spending time with his family, but especially time with his loving wife, Donna. At the request of ! the family, they will receive friends 5:00 - 8:00 PM today at the FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE Augusta Chapel 307 N. Ruth is survived by her children and their spouses: Nancy Martin of Plainwell, Jan and Gloria Hodgemire, Ron Hodgemire all of Kalamazoo, Debbie and Mike Mezo of Scotts and Dawn and Mark Proxmire of Three Rivers, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her family was at her side. She was born Betty Jane Perry on August 6, 1918, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Charles L. Perry and Florence (DeMink) Perry. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1936 and attended Western Michigan University. She was married for 57 years to Robert Howard Lynn who passed away in 1999. She is survived by her children: Robert P. Lynn and wife Janet of Richland, MI., John C. Lynn and wife Lori of Boise, ID and Ajijic, Mexico and William H. Lynn and wife Candy of Raphine, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her very special friend, Carl Fulwider of Baldwin Park, Staunton, Virginia. Betty touched everyone she knew with her kind-heartedness, generosity and zest for life. Though less than five feet tall, her friends referred to her as "Mighty Mouse" or the "Energizer Bunny" due to her! vitality and boundless energy. Her positive attitude and marvelous sense of humor made her a joy to know. To her friends and family she was nothing less than a treasure that will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Whether from the adverse effects of illness or the loss of a loved one, she faced adversity with grace and determination. Always placing others before herself, she volunteered many hours of service at the Akron Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio, Fairfield Elementary School, Fairfield, Virginia and Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington, Virginia. She was a devout Christian all her life and read her Bible everyday. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Medina, Ohio where she was a member of the Altar Guild. After moving to Virginia, she attended Church services at Baldwin Park in Staunton. She lived life to its fullest and was an avid card player, golfer, seamstress, sailor, and dancer. For many years, her family came from all over the countr! y to celebrate Thanksgiving at her home in Ohio. Famous for her crispy oatmeal cookies and homemade pumpkin pies, she was a wonderful cook, always bringing a smile to those lucky enough to enjoy the results of her culinary skill. Her ashes along with those of her husband will be interred at a future date at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Medina, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society. The brightest of candles when extinguished leave the deepest darkness. He was born May 2, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Harry Samuel and Emma TRIPP, and attended Richland High School. He retired as Staff Sgt. after serving 20 years with the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Harbor Cove Marina, and managed the Gull lake Marine Center for several years. He also was employed at the Kalamazoo Center in Kalamazoo, and the Delton Hardware. He loved yardwork, boating, and tinkering with engines, motors and cars. He was a member of the Delton Moose Lodge and the 5th Regimental Combat Team Assoc. On January 13, 1973 he married Jackie (SOUTHALL) NEWTON, who survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Terrie MORRIS of Long Beach, CA 6 sons, Allen and Yvonne TRIPP of Youngsville, LA, Donald TRIPP of Battle Creek, Rick and Joyce NEWTON of LaGrande, OR, Michael and Wahah NEWTON of Richland, Mark and Sherri NEWTON of Portland, OR, Matthew and Trudy! NEWTON of Delton; many grandchildren several great-grandchildren; 3 sisters; 4 brothers, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place at his request. Larry was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Michigan State University. Prior to his retirement in 1997 he was a stock broker for over 20 years with First of Michigan. Larry was also an avid golfer, reader and world traveler. On November 11, 1967 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Judy Kaiser who survives. God has restored to Grant a body, which is strong and well, and eyes, which see God in all of heaven's glory. Grant's daily life brought blessings and joy to all who knew and loved him. Though Grant's legs lacked the strength for walking and running, Grant ran the race of faith in Christ as one whose love and energy were boundless. Grant knew and understood that he was God's child and lived as Christ's servant, sharing God's great love with all. Grant's deep love for family, his wit and humor, and keen sense of listening lit up a room. Grant's smiles and resilient spirit were an inspiration. In the midst of pain, it was Grant's visitors who walked away blessed and sure of God's plan that in all of life, the glory is God's. Grant joined Jesus Christ, his faithful Savior in heav! en on a Sunday, Grant's favorite day of the week. Grant loved worshipping at Southern Heights Christian Reformed Church, where he was a professing member. Grant's voice often joined the pastor's with amens of praise and with occasional amens, urging the pastor toward his conclusion. Grant's church family loved Grant and served God as faithful prayer partners and constant support for Grant and for the Jager family. Grant was blessed to often join evening worship at Grace Church with his grandparents. He attended Croyden Avenue School and will be missed by teachers and friends. Grant is survived by his beloved family, parents Tom and Laura Jager, his brothers Nathan and Mitchell Jager, and his devoted grandparents Henry and Shirley Jager. Grant was preceded in death by his dear grandma, Marvella Woltjer and is also survived by loving grandparents John and Dorothy Woltjer, great-grandparents Alko and Nell Jager, and by numerous adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, many dear and clo! se family friends, an enthusiastic Friendship Class, and a wonderful c aregiver and best friend Julie Cooper. May we too, knowing that Christ went ahead of us to prepare a room for us, one day hear Christ's invitation of grace and words of assurance saying welcome home, well done, my good and faithful servant. A memorial service to celebrate Grant's life will be held 7:00 o'clock Thursday evening at Third Reformed Church, 2345 N. 10th Street with Pastor Dan Sarkipato officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private interment will be in West Oshtemo Cemetery. She was born January 2, 1916 in Ganges, MI, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth (Selby) Keeler. Tressie was employed at Kalamazoo State Hospital as a nurse attendant for many years, until her retirement in 1980. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, gardening, cooking great meals, exercise class, and spending time with her husband and family. On July 20, 1940, Tressie was united in marriage to her true love, Eugene E. Guyberson, in Napoleon, Ohio, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2001. Also preceding her in death are her parents; two brothers, Clesson and Ralph "Bud" Keeler; two sisters, Frances Keeler and Dorothy Minor; and a grandson, James Johnson. Surviving are two children, Barbara (John Sr.) Johnson, and Eugene Guyberson Jr.; three grandchildren, Victoria Johnson, Rachiel (Scott) Hill, John Johnson Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Ashley Hill; a! nd several cousins, nieces, and nephews in Michigan and Florida. Services for Tressie will be at 11:30 AM on Friday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, with Rev. Theda McBryde, chaplain for Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, officiating.
