During his residence here he has held several positions of trust, being deputy sheriff and in charge of city work several times. He was for several years, until about two years ago, engaged in the plumbing business. source: Kalamzoo Gazette May 27, 1898 I would think his Civil War record would be interesting. I do not have that information. The following are entries from the City of Kalamazoo directories. The first one appears to be this Charles C. Jennings, not sure about the other two. Jennings Charles C , foreman Kalamazoo Street Ry Co, residence 836 Portage.Jennings, John F, canvasser, boards 836 Portage, Kalamazoo City, 1887 Jennings Charles C , saloon, tobacco and cigars, 115 South Rose, residence 530 West Ransom, Village of Kalamazoo, 1883 Jennings Charles C , The Senate, 117 S Rose, Village of Kalamazoo, 1883 I have never seen the name of Jenney attached to these families, however I have just dealt with the time since they arrived in Kalamazoo. Thornton was James and Mary's oldest son, and the dates fit the "stuff" I already have. Thanks very much. Now, to find Abigail. If I have her placed correctly, her husband, Eli, died in Columbia County, Pennsylvania in 1852. I'm still hypothesising here, but the pieces seem to be fitting together. Thanks!
