Age 90 Kalamazoo Died March 15, 2008. Jack was born in Flint, MI on Oct. 31, 1917 the son of Jefferson and Neva (Hammond) Kerry. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army. He repaired furniture at Leath's Furniture for over 30 years. Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he did volunteer work, was involved with Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years, Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers, also was a volunteer at the Red Cross, and Portage Senior Center. He and Jeannette square danced and traveled all over the country as well as Europe & British Isles with the square dancers. His greatest joy was giving other people fruits, vegetables and especially paper plates & napkins. David D. Was killed March 10, 2008 while serving with the 1-64 Armor 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. He was born June 15, 1976, to Wally and Bonnie Bills Julian. He attended school in Evanston and graduated from Evanston High School in 1994. In May 1998, he enlisted in the United State Army. While in the Army he completed tours in Macedonia, Korea and three tours in Iraq. He met and married the love of his life, Erin McDaniel, in Ludowici, Georgia. The light of his life was born in December. David was able to spent 18 wonderful awe filled days with his little Lizzie before going back to Iraq. David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved any kind of fishing and was enjoying being near the coast so that he could enjoy shark fishing. He loved Wyoming and had plans to return there in the next couple of years with his family. David is survived by his wife, Erin Julian and his daughter, Elizabeth Julian; his parents and his step-mother, Lynn Julian; his siblings, Eric (Jennifer) Julian,! SSG Mark Julian, Chris (Tara) Julian, Mistee (Corey) Rochford, Becki (Alex) Frame and Kellee Julian. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and family. Garey was united in marriage to Sheila Chesworth in Grand Rapids, October 16, 1994, who survives him. Garey served his country as a Vietnam Veteran, until honorably discharged in 1972. He loved his family and the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop. "Jake" Of Kalamazoo Passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2008 at home following a 4-1/2 month struggle with cancer. Jake was born in the small town of Fredericktown, MO, July 9, 1925, the son of Ralph & Marie (Britschge) Stumbaugh. With his parents, he moved to Topeka, Kansas and he served his country in the Army Air Force 453rd Bomber Group, 735th Squadron, during WW II. Following the war, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he met his wife to be. On Nov. 21, 1953, he married Betty A. Compton, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph W. Stumbaugh, Jr. Jake was instrumental in bringing Mich. Nebraska Transit Co. to Kalamazoo and was a trucker with Graff Trucking, and was a member of the Teamsters Local #7 Retirees Club. Jake was an extraordinary man who had many friends and acquaintances and will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity to all of them. Surviving are his daughter, Roxann Snow, with whom he made his h! ome and "grandson", Boomer. Services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the mausoleum chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park with Rev. Preston Porter, officiating and with military honors by Comstock VFW Post #6252, of which he was a member, and the Army National Guard. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. In 1944, she was united in marriage to Donald Skelding, who preceded her in death on August 29, 1985. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Robert Aldag and one sister, Edna. Surviving are two sons, Jim Skelding of Kalamazoo and Tom Skelding of Ishpeming; one daughter, Peg Skelding of Kalamazoo and one sister, Bernice of St. Louis, MO. Funeral services for Mrs. Skelding will be at 10:30 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Pastor Louis Grother, officiating. Of Kalamazoo, MI Died Monday evening, March 17, 2008. Jodie was born February 26, 1956 in Battle Creek, Michigan, a daughter of Theodore and Sharon (Elderidge) Bowers. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Borgess Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore; a sister, Beth; a nephew, David and her in-laws, Sharon and Vern Greenwood. She is survived by two children, Vern Greenwood III and Jamie Greenwood, both of Kalamazoo;six grandchildren, Alexis Greenwood, David Cook, Jacob and Katie Gifford and Brian and "G" Weitz; her mother, Sharon Bowers of Kalamazoo; two brothers, Teddy (Kathy) Bowers of Galesburg and Jamie (Jenny) Bowers of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Sherry Bowers and Nancy Perez, both of Kalamazoo; her companion and his family, Jim Moyer and Charon (Gary Weitz) Moyer all of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 West ! Battle Creek St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday. I obtained one from an auction in the Kalamazoo, MI area, of a young lady. She's identified as "Elsie Hughes" and someone wrote, "mama's bridesmaid". Elsie is seated outside, and holding a book.
