She leaves behind two daughters, Linda Strong of Schoolcraft, MI and Kathleen Everrett Nason of Vicksburg, MI; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Pardee of Comstock, MI and Loretta Wiley of Galesburg, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schram retired from Fort James Co. after 19 years of service. A memorial service will be held 1 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 929 Charlotte Ave., Kalamazoo, MI. A gathering with the family will be held immediately following services at the Father Bart Center. Memorials may be donated to the Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo MI. Age 75 Of Richland Went to be with the Lord, April 10, 2008 following an extended illness. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 30, 1933. He was son of Ward and Earleen (Anderson) McCain. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Paratrooper in the Korean War. He graduated from Western Michigan University where he met his wife of 51 years, Judith (Purcell) and was married in August of 1956. Surviving are his wife Judy, two children; son Michael, wife Tytins from Alma, Arkansas, daughter Susan Porter and John Porter of Richland, Michigan. Sisters Marilyn (Carl) Trano; Grace (William) Porter of Livona, MI and several nieces, nephews, and six grandchildren, he especially loved his six grandchildren. They were a true highlight and joy in his life. He was a realtor for most of his career in the Kalamazoo area and was involved in community service. He was a life member of the Kalamazoo Board of Realtors, Kalamazoo Civil Air Patrol and member of the Gull Lake Area Rotary Club. As a g! raduate of WMU he became involved with several campus activities affiliations. He was a man of great faith and belief in God, member of Calvary Bible Church of Kalamazoo and who served in leadership roles with other religious organizations in the community. Jim was known by many for his sense of humor and jovial nature. He was always quick with a smile and a positive attitude which he shared with many in need. His favorite saying was "Never a problem, always an opportunity." He loved to boat and sail. When younger he was an avid water skier. He truly enjoyed any water related activities and spent many days enjoying time with his family and friends on Gull Lake in Richland. He was a man of great moral character and will be truly missed. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Family graveside services and interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:30 AM. A Memorial Service will follow Tuesday afternoon at 2! :00 PM at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Road in Kalamazoo. Pastor Bryan Craddock officiating. Age 91 Of Richland, MI Formerly of Columbia, TN Died at Borgess Medical Center on Saturday, April 12, 2008. She was born on December 12, 1916 in Quincy, MI to Will and Zettie (Anderson) Hall. She grew up and lived as a young adult in and near Columbia, TN. and moved to Michigan with her husband and daughter in 1949. Flora retired in 1979 from Universal Die Cast in Saline, MI where she was employed for 30 years. Although she lived in Michigan for more than 30 years, her heart was always in the South. She moved back to Columbia when she retired. Flora was married to Clyde C. Leland on December 3, 1939. She was preceded in death in 1972 by Clyde, her husband and by three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Felecia L. "Rusty" (Pete) Graham of Richland, MI; two grandsons, Peter L. (Sherry) Graham of Pinckney, MI and Christopher B. (Kristi) Graham of Kalamazoo, MI; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Sean, Lily, Gabriel and Samuel; two sisters, Frances Howell and Helen (Wayne) Pagel both of Columbia, TN; and by! two brothers, Volter "Buck" (Frances) Hall and Wallace "Jim" Hall both of Columbia, TN. Early in her life she took responsibility for her brothers and sisters. That responsibility and love continued throughout her life, and expanded to include all the many family members that she knew and loved. She was a skilled seamstress and a gardener who could grow anything. Flora will be laid to rest beside her husband, Clyde, in Oakwood Cemetery in Saline, MI. Memorial services to celebrate Flora's life will be held at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Time and date will be announced later. Sr. Portage Edwin died Tuesday evening, April 8, 2008, at the V.A. Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born December 26, 1927 in Port Jervis, New York, the son of Edwin and Gladuys Hinkley. After several years of traveling across the country working as an ironworker on bridges and military fortifications, he moved his family to the Kalamazoo area where he lived for over 40 years and where he became co-owner of Portage Steel Fabricating. Edwin was a World War II veteran of the US Army. He was a former member of the Saladin Temple, past president of the Kalamazoo Shrine Club, former member of the AASR, former participant in the Desert Sheik and Camel patrols, former President of the German-American Club and a member of the Kalamazoo Masonic Anchor Lodge # 22 at the time of his passing. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Surviving are: a daughter, Dee Chriscoe of Portage, a son, Ed (Linda) Hinkley Jr. of Schoolcraft; four grandchildren, Michelle Nuyen, Nicole (Mike) Gal! iger, Michelle Pryson and Kelly (Chris) Hanna; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends. On August 19, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Monroe Brewer who preceded her in death on January 15, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a sister and four brothers. Dave is survived by his three sons, Michael Furney (fiance, Mely Garcines) of Columbus, OH, Todd Furney (Mariana Romano) of Chicago, IL and Matthew (Sarah) Furney of Ortonville, MI. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Leah Mae Romano Furney. Dave is survived by two brothers, Irving Furney of Harrison, MI and Craig (Martha) Furney of Kalamazoo and several nieces. In 1986 he was joined in marriage to Elaine Ewing. Rodney welcomed Elaine's two children Cheryl and LeAnn into his life with an open heart and mind and raised them along with two additional children Charlie and Heather. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother Janet (Chalker) VanTilburg. Rodney is survived by his children, Cheryl, LeAnn, Charlie, and Heather; Grandchildren Jarret, Sierra, Destinee, and Sage. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St . The family will receive friends at the funeral home on! North Ft. Myers, FL Bud Green, age 85, passed away Monday morning, March 31, 2008 in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born April 2, 1922, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Ainsworth and Neva (Coon) Green. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army 78th Lightening Division, 903rd Field Artillery where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious achievement. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident where he owned Green Radio Sales and Services for 40 years; retiring in 1978. He then started KAV Rental with his family until his retirement to Florida. Bud will be remembered as the "Mayor of Washington Square". Bud was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; Kalamazoo Optimist Club; Ambucs, Advisory Committee of the Kalamazoo Airport and the American Legion Post #36. He was also a Past President of the 78th Division Association; Kalamazoo Appliance and T.V. Dealers Association; the Washington Square Business League and the O.O.M.A. Breakfast Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; his firs! t wife, Helen L. Green on March 28, 1996; and his sister, Phyllis Covey. On December 16, 1998, he was married to Geraldine "Gerry" (McCann-Alley) Green who survives. Also surviving, five children, Suzanne Schauer, Dianne (Jon) Dobratz, David (Sue) Green, Lorianne (Tim) Shaver and Timothy (Ava) Green all of Kalamazoo. Three Step-children, Cheryl Ewing and Christine Westbrook of Lawton and Ruth Ann (Paul) Muinch of Fulton, MI, a brother-in-law, Richard Covey of Kalamazoo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was most proud of his 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, April 5, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, April 4, 2008, at Langeland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 622 S.
