Start The Season at the Inaugural Portage Bike Rally The Bike Rally will be fun for the whole family or the individual bicyclist. Participants will have the choice of a family/novice route of 3.75 miles or an advanced route of 6.75 miles and will "log in" at various checkpoints along the route. In addition to a pleasant bicycle tour along the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park trails, the rally will include bicycle safety information, bicycle safety checks, snacks, face painting and prizes. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Celery Flats Interpretive Center on Garden Lane with the rally starting at 10 a.m. Bike Rally participants need only complete the course by 12:45 p.m., so those with other activities are welcome to arrive late. For participants who successfully complete the route, prize drawings for individuals and families will be held at Celery Flats from 12:45 - 1 p.m. Cost of pre-registration is $3 for individuals and $8 per family (up to 4). Pre-registration must be received by May 1. Cost on the day of the event will be $4 for individuals and $12 per family (up to 4). All proceeds will benefit the City of Portage bikeway system. Helmets are required for this event - a limited number of donated children's helmets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A parent must accompany children under the age of 16. If you have any questions, want an electronic copy of the brochure or want a registration form, you can e-mail us at PortageBikeRally@aol.com or download a registration form at: http://www.portagemi.gov/living/seasonal_recreation.asp Since this is being sent out late and if you want to send in a pre-registr ation payment please e-mail us at PortageBikeRally@aol.com. We will accept any payments mailed by Friday if you e-mail us first. ************** Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Get new twists on family favorites at AOL Food.
