Surviving is a daughter, Brittany Lynn Sweet of Tulsa, OK; his mother, Barbara Channells of Kalamazoo; step-mother Josephine Channells, of Battle Creek; a brother Lee Simmons of Battle Creek; two sisters BillieJo (Bobby) Lee of Battle Creek and Shirley (Johnny) Williams of Battle Creek; two aunts Roberta (Edward) Lammers of Kalamazoo and Helen Brodie of Portage; three cousins Michael, Robert and Eric Davis and special friend Ron Thomas of Battle Creek. Of Portage Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence after a17 year battle with Carcinoid Cancer. Nancy was born December 9, 1956 in Grand Haven, MI, a daughter of Richard and Jean (Cislewicz) Johnson. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and was employed for several years as an interior designer for DeKorne Ethan Allen and later worked at the Hallmark Store. Nancy was an active member of the Portage First United Methodist Church where she served as a Trustee, was a Kid's Hope Mentor and a member of the Women's Bible Study. She was also active with the Community Bible Study and the Bible Study Fellowship. Nancy enjoyed crafts, collectibles, sewing and hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Johnson and by a sister, Laura Broersma. On June 15, 1985, she was married to James A. Pieper, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy E. Pieper of Portage; her father, Richard Johnson of Muskegon; two brothers, George (Char) Johnson and Kenneth (Cassie) Johnson, all of Muskegon;sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Maureen (Mark) Fitzgerald of Ann Arbor, Richard (Laura) Pieper of Mason, OH, Carol (Mark) Troutman of North Carolina and Marcia Grennan of Portage; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Thursday at the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Ave. with Pastor Greg Wood officiating. He immigrated to The United States in 1956, where he lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan with his family and worked for Zurn Industries for over 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening andtraveling throughout the world. He was devoted to the Lord and his family and will be dearly missed. Preceding him in death are his wife, Jacoba in 1973 and granddaughter, Keriann McLain in November of 2009. Portage, MI Passed away Friday morning January 8, 2010 at home with his family around him. He was born November 25, 1920 in Wichita, Kansas a son of John W. and Myrtle "Irene" (Donham) Roeder. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army in England with the Transportation Corp. Roy was involved in the planning for the D-Day invasion and delivered highly classified documents to the front lines. He also enjoyed being an assistant scout master for his son's Boy Scout Troop #43, years ago. Roy was employed with the Mead Corporation for 41 years, retiring in 1982. For 19 years, he loved spending winters in Phoenix with his wife and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a brother; and a niece. Roy was married 61 years to Betty (Hartoog) Roeder who survives. Also surviving, two children, Mike Roeder and Kathy Roeder both of Portage; three grandchildren, Kristy (Joe) Herman, and Ryan and Erik Denny; two step granddaughters, Tara (Davin) Ojala and Kelly (Scott) Kovalska; a sister, Dorothy Beetch; 2 nephews; and 5 nieces. Rishel who preceded her in death on January 6, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Sult in 2003 and by two grandchildren, Daniel and Aubrey Rishel. He was an avid bowler and had served as manager of the Grand Rapids Deaf Women's Softball Team and played on the Detroit Deaf Men's Softball Team. Gary also belonged to several deaf organizations and was past president of the Kalamazoo Chapter of the Michigan Association of Deaf Citizens. He was a member of the East Main Church of Christ. Gary was preceded in death by his father, William A. Kirby in 1999. Age 91 Of Kalamazoo Cliff went home to be with his Lord on Friday, January 8, 2010. Cliff was born in Albion, Michigan on November 30, 1918, the second child of Edward and Thersa (Phelps) Finley. Cliff was a loving husband and father and a veteran of World War II. He served in the U. S. Army from March 1941 to October 1945. For 26 years he was the rural mail carrier for the U. S. Post Office in Hawks, Michigan. In his retirement he lived in Austin, Texas and Winter Haven, Florida before moving back to Michigan with his wife in 2008. Cliff married Betty Taylor on the 8th of December, 1945. They had 64 years of life and love together. Cliff is survived by his wife, Betty and his two children, Linda (Ron) Lance of Oshtemo, MI and Jon (Nancy) Finley of Farmington Hills, MI. He is also survived by his sister, Betty (Alvin) Montague of Winter Haven, FL and by his four grandchildren, Allison Lance, Brandon (Christine) Lance, Evan Finley, Catherine Finley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preced! ed in death by his two brothers, Harold Finley and Wayne Finley. Funeral services for Cliff will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, with Pastor David Thompson of Texas Corners Bible Church officiating. Private interment will be in Ft.
