Author: casay2150 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.kalamazoo/25981.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello and thank you. I have almost all / most of the early Pierce / Pearce families in Climax down, well sourced and properly placed. Philo is one of my grandparents. Yes, his death record correctly gives Hamlin as her name but the main the source is when Clarissa applies for her husbands War 1812 pension and states her name as Hamlin. This whole White / Hamlin thing had been an ongoing pain with just a few family members that I thought was cleared up. I think the inaccurate information came from the death record of one of Philo's siblings. The person that put the information on the Kalamazoogenealogy.org site put the information that's contained at a couple different places in Kalamazoo and had no way to know differently. I've sent better, complete records for them to use at this point. They had all good intentions. :) If you'd really like to find something... who is the Mrs. King buried in Prairie Home Cemetery in Climax? No dates.. just the name, Mrs. King known so far. Knowing who she is would be very helpful and greatly appreciated to know. Wayne looked into it before and couldn't match a death and I've been looking out for her for years and can't figure it out. Cemetery only has Mrs. King also and no more information that I've found in their data base. Here are the people she's buried with: Smith Francis L. 1842 1914 Original 6 1 (Husband of Martha) Smith Leora 1882-1886 Original 6 3 (Daughter of Francis and Martha) Smith Martha 1859 1921 Original 6 2 (Daughter of Elipha Spicer and Isaac/ Isiah Filkins) Wells Mrs. Worden 1809-1893 Original 6 4 King Mrs. N/Available Original 6 5 I know all of them except her. Mrs. Worden Wells is Elipha Spicer Filkins Wells and I wouldn't doubt that this Mrs. King is a possible daughter or granddaughter. I just don't know for sure. Could also be step daughter or step granddaughter as there are many children involved with her marriages. You'll probably notice I've posted a lot of information on this message board for years ;) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [MIKALAMA] Kalamazoo County, MI; Cemeteries on the Web
    2. Greetings, We at Kalamazoo County, MI; Cemeteries on the Web are getting ready to kick off our summer of photographing.  We took off last year for a breather and I worked on another volunteer project.  Our project is like no other.  We are photographing, transcribing and indexing all burials in Kalamazoo County.  With our data, visitors to our website can search for lost relatives buried in the county, see their grave and get specifics on where in the cemeteries they are buried.  Our project will not end when we are done, we will be updating all burials on a yearly basis.  We are looking for additional volunteers to photograph graves and/or transcribe the photographs taken.  It is a detailed project but fun if you like cemeteries, photographing or transcribing.  This project has been very rewarding.  We have helped families in England, the Netherlands and all across the United States.  If you are interested in helping you can contact the project at [email protected]  We welcome your help in this important and monumental project. If you have not been to our site, visit us at: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mikccem/

Note - if you read what I posted you'd see that there are two Sabrina's and I was kind of joking about her being her own grandmother as the surname was put on the wrong Sabrina. Yes - things can get confusing... example: Benjamin Pearce... lol Benjamin Pearce yesterday married Mrs. Myrtle Ronbinson-Force-Deforest-Ainsworth, and thereby became father in law of his sister and uncle and grandfather of his wife's son's child. Try to figure that one out ;) I'm teasing.. it's already done. My documentation is excellent and much of it has been shared here on this message board over the years. I could then check around a bit & try to see what's up. All of the info on that site is from Kalamazoo Co. records & the Kalamazoo Library. Most errors in death records come from family members who give incorrect info to the funeral homes or in older deaths it probably was given to a doctor who then submitted it to the Co. Clerk. With proper documentation you can have records changed but your documentation must be good. My grandfather is listed in the Kalamazoo Co. records as being married to his mother-in-law. That info came my Aunt who supplied the wrong info to the funeral home when he died. I have all the documentation to have it changed but haven't gotten around to it yet. Lettice was born 1796 and married James Cassor Sarah Lettice was born 1791 and married Jacob Coe Source - Birth and many many other records... Sabrina Caroline Cassor was the first wife of my 3rd great grandfather, Henry H. Howard. She was obviously named after her grandmother Sabrina but she is not her own grandmother.. sigh. Sorry to be so frustrated but it pains me to see such old and inaccurate information on that site! Anyone associated directly with these families are welcome to contact me. I will say first though, I'm willing to SHARE information but "takers" don't bother to contact me. I'm tired of sharing so much information and years of research yet so many people never ever share back with the most basic of their information. I'll be donating all of my information one of these years to the Climax Library including all my information on Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax and Leroy Twp, Calhoun Co., families. I cannot correct all the wrong information on the Kalamazoogenalogy.org site on these families as it constitutes many many years of research. Please search this message board for much of the information I have shared on this family over the years trying to correct it all previously.
