    1. [MIJackson] Information about pre-1867 Marriage: JAMES PIERCE to AMELIA PEASE
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BGB.2ACI/448 Message Board Post: This marriage is listed in Michigan Marriages, 1851-1875, which I think is just an index to marriages. My question is, if I went to the courthouse or the clerk's office, would I find any more information than just the date -- August 25, 1852 -- and the county, Jackson? Is there something equivalent to a marriage license on file, which might give witnesses, who performed the ceremony, place of residence of the bride and groom, etc.? I am confused about this because the county clerk office information says they don't have marriage license before 1867 but reading this Board, it seems like the Courthouse might???? The Peases were apparently a large family from the Grass Lake area, but I can't find them (or James Pierce) in the 1850 census listings. Does anyone know anything about them? Also -- third question, I guess -- Is the Local History room in the Carnegie Library accessible while the library is undergoing renovations? Thanks very much for any input! Santa Traugott
