They are buried in Mount Evergreen Cemetary. Charles Gunn 1830-1909 and Estella Emmons Gunn 1822-1907. They were married July 3, 1865 in Jackson. Her mother, Susan Gunn, ran a boarding house in Jackson at which Charles lived according to the 1860 census. Susan is listed in the 3rd ward of Jackson City, dwelling 499. Their daughter, Cara, was married to Thomas Hart on Jan 1, 1874 in Jackson. Susan Emmons died in Nov, 1881. Her obituary that follows was in the Jackson Weekly Citizen on Nov. 15, 1881 on page 5: ANOTHER PIONEER GONE Mrs. Susan Emmons, whose daughter, Mrs. Ann Riley, was buried Thursday, was suddenly taken ill the same morning with paralysis of the heart, and died Friday morning at 10 o'clock, never recovering from the shock. Mrs. Emmons was 79 years old and was one of the oldest residents of this city, coming here from St. Lawrence county, New York, in 1834 when there were but two houses off from the little Main street of that burgh. She leaves four children, Jonathon II, and Robert E. Emmons, Mrs. Stella Gunn, and Mrs. Silas Hoyt, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Lawson. A brother died a few months since and his widow, Mrs. Mary Haskins, is with the family, and she leaves one sister living in the West. As is well known, the entire family, of which she is the head, have always been highly respected by the entire community, and the survivors have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. It is fifteen years since Mrs. Emmons has been downstairs! from her residence, 129 and 131 E. Main Street, and most of that time she has been chair ridden by rheumatic affliction and confined to her room by excessive corpulence. She was a life-long consistent member of the Christian church and Rev. D. E. Millard officiated at the funeral which was held on Sunday. Hope this is helpful to your research.
