Wright Birth: Apr. 27, 1812 New York, USA Death: Oct. 20, 1900 Namesake of Wright Cemetery, Wright country School, and Wright neighborhood. Wife Sarena. The Wright Schoolhouse is a State of Michigan Historic Site and there is a marker in front of the school along M-99 at Comdon Road. The school closed in June, 1967. Deodatus' father Frederick and brother Frederick Jr. had settled land in Parma Township in 1836. Deodatus married Serena Fox on October 12, 1836 in New York. The couple came to Michigan in April, 1839 to the home of the Frederick Wright Sr. and Jr. on the Territorial Road, now known as Comdon Road in Parma Township, Jackson County. Deodatus and Serena had ten children. A biography of the Wright family (written in 1908)appears in the January 26, 1985 issue of the Journal of Albion, page 5.
