I'll give you some notes I acquired and see if you would like more info to see if our family lines cross somewhere. Both of my Elisha Fields were in the Revolution: (ENSIGN ELISHA FIELD Sr: Ensign Elisha Field was born in Sunderland, Massachusetts. He removed, in 1761, to Bennington, Vermont, and was one of the first settlers of that town. ) (ELISHA FIELD Jr: He was one of the burial party after the battle of Bennington, Aug 16, 1777; was also one of the guard placed over the Hessian prisoners in the old Bennington meeting house and over the captured military stores.) Luman was the son of Elisha Jr who moved West. They came west 1836-37, stopping for a short time at Yates, NY., on their way to Knoxville, where they stayed but a short time before going to farm at Center Point, near Galesburg. (History of Sparta Township) Asaph DeLong and Luman Field, from Vermont, and Wm. M. Heath from New York, settled on section 31 in 1836.
