He joined in Grass Lake, Michigan and was a Farrier for the company. He was married twice – 1) Anne McCorrister (first wife) They lived in Mercer County, Ohio circa 1840 - 1855. They had six children 1- Lydia E. Morgan, b. 1839 – died January 8, 1908 in Dunn County, Wisconsin +Noah Dawson, died 1907 in Dunn County 2- James Avery “Abe” Morgan, b. 18 Jul 1844, Mercer County, Ohio – died 23 Jan 1890 in Dunn County +Mary Grimm 3- Elvin Morgan, b. 9 Jul 1847, Mercer County, Ohio – died 30 Jul 1920 in Dunn County +Catherine Grimm There were three other children unknown to me. James Avery Morgan Sr. married again in 1862 to Jerusha Sometime in 1860 they moved to Grasslake, Michigan (Jackson County) These three Morgan’s enlisted into the 10th Michigan Calvery. The father and his two sons. After the Civil War they moved to Des Moines, Iowa and then returned to Michigan. Leaving for Wisconsin in 1872 and moved to Dunn County. Would really appreciate any help with this, I am at a brick wall looking for the father and mother and where they might have passed away. Elvin’s Obituary: Dunn County News August 5, 1920 Elvin Morgan Elvin Morgan, a well known resident of this city, died at his home on Broadway Friday evening, June 30. He had been afflicted with heart trouble for some time and it was doubtless the immediate cause of his death, for the summons came suddenly a few minutes after he had retired for the night. Mr. Morgan was born in Mercer County, Ohio, July 9, 1847, and came to Dunn County in 1872. He was married to Catherine Grimm of Menomonie Sept. 27, 1873. To this union were born four children-- Frank of Glen Flora; Oscar, who died in infancy; Mrs. Ibe Jents of Henderson, Minn., and Mrs. E. A. Drake of Eau Claire. A veteran of the Civil war Elvin Morgan had the rare distinction of serving in the same company and regiment with his father, James A. Morgan, who enlisted in Co. A, 10th Michigan cavalry, Aug. 29, 1863. In October, 1864, Elvin a lad of 17, enlisted in his father's company and both served until the regiment was mustered out in November, 1865. Both joined William Evans post, G. A. R. In 1889. James A. Morgan died Jan. 22, 1980. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. W. I. Lowe, officiating. There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors, including his old comrades and members of the Woman's Relief corps. The Grand Army burial service was read at the grave of the old veteran laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery. The pall bearers were Robert Millar, Ameron Blain, Val. Brieor, Frank Olson, George Shafer and R. J. Flint.
