James, the sixth of seven children of Albert J. and Mathide (Moise) Farrell was born September 12, 1923, in Jackson, Michigan. He grew up in Concord, Michigan. Served with the USMC in the Pacific Theater in WW II. Graduated from Stanford University in 1948. He was united in marriage to Betty Glenetta Schacht on August 29, 1952, in Orange, California. He was a very much loved husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed by those who survive him; wife, Glenetta; daughters, Heidi (Rolland) Baker and Diane Rollings; grandchildren, Elisha and Crystalyn Baker and Matthew Rollings; sister, Kathleen Egan; brother, AJ; nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Zachary; sister, Aline Bennett; brothers, William, Garner, and Thomas. James was a fine craftsman, building family homes in California and Mexico. He also built three boats, a sailboat as a teenager, and as a young man, a 26 foot sloop the "stolesumwood" on which the family had many adventures including sailing in five Ensenada races. Later in life he built a portable houseboat christened the "Huckfinn" and was able to make a trip to explore Lake Powell. An accomplished painter, he continued painting until his last hospitalization. Arrangements by the Neptune Society of Orange County, Costa Mesa, California.
