This Robert was born April 24, 1831, in England and d. May 18, 1890, in Streator, Illinois. Can anyone help me find out how I can find out more about the whether or not he was a boxer in Michigan? Robert's parents were, Robert Cheesmond and Mary Robson. The letter says that my gr uncles parents came from England, moved to Jackson, and worked in the mines there. I would love to find out more about the work he did. They moved to Streator and then back to Michigan. My gr gr grandfather, Robert Cheesmond was one of the first Union organizors in the coal mining industry in Michigan. I am very interested in learning more about that also. I know that many of my Cheesmond ancestors worked in mines in England as well as the states. Thank you very much for anyone that may be able to help me. You can email me directly as others have.
