He was born August 1837 in Germany and apparently lived in Manchester, Washtenaw Co., in the 1860's before moving to the Grass Lake area some time after the Civil War. He married Sarah Matilda Davidson in 1868 and George Maute served as a witness to their marriage. There is a Jacob Horning living in Grass Lake in 1900 who was born Sept. 1830 in Germany. Jacob moved from Manchester as well and I suspect he may be an older brother to John Horning. John Horning didn't have any children named William as far as I can tell, however, Jacob Horning had a son named William who was born Jan. 1870. Perhaps this is your William Horning??
