    1. [MIJackson] HURLBURT/RICHARDS
    2. Barbara
    3. Am looking for any assistance on the Frank B. Hurlburt/Richards family. Ida M. Richards was born about 1855 in Michigan. Frank B. Hurlburt was born in Connecticut. They had 3 children: Neva M, Roy F. (or Leroy) and Gracie L. Am especially interested in Roy F. and Ida May Richards. I have located a census report stating the family lived in Parma, Jackson, Michigan. I have no deaths or further information. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Barbara

Maybe the obits will clear up some of the questions.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BGB.2ACI/438.3.1 Message Board Post: Mr. Kerwin, Thanks again. I'm sorry I didn't make it clear, the land Eb homesteaded was near Muskegon. Nearly two years ago another kind soul told me about land records. From them I found that Eb and his brother, Milo, had both homesteaded land in Muskegon County. When I received those papers is when I found the Elmer signature. I know the census showed him as female. Either the census taker made a mistake, or trips to Denmark for gender changes started long before we believed. I do not know who Elmer's parents were. It depends upon who he is a half-brother to. If it was Eb and Milo, then Sally was an unmarried 52 year old mother. If it was to Eb's later children with Mary Booker (one of whom was my ggrandfather), I strongly suspect he was Eb's child from a first marriage. Milo did not join the household from New York until sometime between March and June of 1850. Elmer was born in Michigan. Eb, and his mother, Sally, had moved to Michigan (he to Jackson County, her to Hillsdale County) in 1847 (From New York land records). One scenario that fits the facts is that Eb had married, his first wife died or was divorced (that seems to be genetic in our family) and he subsequently moved in with his mother. If his wife was still alive or still married it seems as if she would have been listed as living in the household. That is why I have been trolling in Jackson County for info on Eb. Does any of this make sense? If you want, we can carry this on off of the board. I am at oldugly@tm.net. Thanks again. Frank

If not got to the BLM web site below - http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ He bought 40 acres on 9/10/1869. But the family does not appear in the 1870 census. 1850 census shows Elmer 7/12 denoted as F - for female. Where is Elmer's mother in 1850? Who is the father?

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BGB.2ACI/438.2.1 Message Board Post: Mr. Kerwin, Thank you for your prompt reply and suggestions. The 1880 Census indicates Elmer J. Rowley was born in 1862. The one I am seeking was born in 1849. We have only three references to him. The 1850 Census of Scipio Twp., Hillsdale County (he was seven months old); His signature on land records in 1867; and a cryptic note in my grandmother's hand on the back of a photo, "Elmer half brother." This Mary's age does not agree with other information I have on Ebenezer's wife. We have confirmed from other sources that In 1880 "Eb" and his family were living in Muskegon, even though they don't show in the census. The Dibean Marriage data base has been very helpful in other areas, not this one. Gendis is not very complete. If you have any other suggestions I will gladly entertain them. Thanks again.
