The original internet file on "Betsie" listed her dob as July 9 1800; however, the 1850 Bradford Co PA Census lists Elizabeth as 47, which would make her dob 1803. Abram & Cornelia's dau Elizabeth was b 16 Jan 1803; chr 10 Apr 1803, Marbletown NY. I have no marriage listed for Elizabeth. I do have an ANTHANY CHRISPELL *(B 1800 in NY) in Bradford Co early 1800's -- have a line of his descendants, also not tied in. Anthany had some descendants stay in Bradford Co; he moved west to Nebraska, but was buried in Bradford Co. If you search "PA, Bradford Co, CHRISPELL" you will find cemetery listings for early settlers. Searching Crofut also brings up "uncollected Mail" at several postoffices for Josiah -- possibly father-in-law of Betsie" If Eliz is dau of Abram & Cornelia, we have her ancestry back to 1735 w/Antoine & even further with Maria Blanchan. Unfortunately, the only info I have on this family came from Internet & is incomplete. It shows a son Levi, but not the daughters you mention. There were several CHRISPELL families in Bradford Co in that time period, but I cannot connect Betsie to them. If you would like to contribute your info on their daughters, we'll add it to our database w/your name & hope eventually to connect the dots. gedcom attached Sharon

Hi, Is there someone in Leoni that may be able to help me find information on Emma (Campbell) Sponsler, wife of Johnson Sponsler, please? Emma was born 1884 in Michigan (according to 1930 census), and had married Johnson between 1923-1930. It was the second marriage for both, I think. Johnson was previously married to M Icy (sp?) b. 1884 in OH. I'm trying to find information on Emma through an obit or other public record in order to trace her parents names. Her parents were both born in Canada. Is there an online index for marriages for the years 1923-1930 in Leoni? She may have used her married name (if she were previously married) in her marriage record with Johnson. The last record I have of Emma and Johnson was in 1948, when they were listed in Emma's brother's obituary. So, I know they were living in Leoni during this time. Are there city directories, newspaper indexes, or cemetery transcriptions that might help me start my search and work backwards? I would really appreciate any suggestions for my next steps. Thanks,

In the 17 Aug 1847 Jackson Patriot on page 2 under Marriages it says: On the 14th inst., in Jackson, by Rev. J. Billings, Mr. Isaac Kirstat and Miss Ann M. Wells, all of Brooklyn, Michigan. Also in a index volume of early marriages in Jackson County there is a listing for the marriage of Isaac Kirstat and Ann Wells on August 14, 1847. It is in volume B of Jackson County Marriages. The County Clerk's Office should be able to send you a copy of it. Hope this helps you out.

The early birth (1867-1910), marriage (1833-1910) and death (1867-1918) registers are microfilmed too. I visited Jackson Co for the 1st time a few weeks ago and had a very productive experience. If you are able to go to the courthouse/clerk's office on a Tuesday or Thursday, the local genealogical society volunteers are there at certain hours. You will be able to inspect multiple records with their assistance. I found the volunteer to be very helpful. They bring out the books for you to inspect. Without volunteers, the clerk's office may limit the number of record lookups. Here is another website for the Jackson Co Clerk with a genealogy link: <http://www.co.jackson.mi.us/countyclerksoffice/> ..and the county library on Michigan Ave (Carnegie main branch) is just a few blocks away with a great local history room. Too much to take in everything that was available in the few hours I was there...but it sure was fun! I can't wait to go back.
