    3. Sandy, BIG SCOOP!!! There are TWO OXFORDS in Ontario! Last night I found Joseph and Aurilla (OUR) Joseph and Aurilla on the 1851 census for OXFORD Twp of GRENVILLE CO. with James, WILLIAM, Solomon, JOSEPH and Mary Jane! Remember in the Smith book it says (on P 17) that there appeared to be 2 other children on the1861 census with the initials W and J--one older and one younger than Solomon, We sort of lost them with the move to Iosco Co. Imagine how excited I am! About William, I had already formulated the theory that he was one of them because he was a witness at Mary Jane's wedding. I found him on the 1870 Iosco Co. census and the dates check out. He had a daughter Rilla (Aurilla, I believe) so I think I am right about him. But as the message says--the family disappears. They were living in Au Sable. So far I can't find them on any other census nor can I find any death records. I have no lead yet on Joseph, It doesn't seem that either of them was around by the time Aurilla died in 1897. Since Reuben was born in Oxford in June of 1858 and Libby was born in Burford in May of 1861, I believe the Smith family remained in OXFORD ON RIDEAU (OXFORD TWP) of Grenville Co (NOT IN OXFORD CO) until 1859 or 1860. There is a TANNEY family there that I believe will connect with Aurilla. So now you know what I"m working on. I'd love any help you can give! When it all comes togetrher we'll have to send a little addend to all those who bought the book. How's Erik? Are you going to his graduation next week? How are you and how are the Aunts? Three cheers for the latest discovery! 3. I may be repeating something you already know, but have you tried checking http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mi/iosco/3501hsgs.htm<http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mi/iosco/3501hsgs.htm> which is an excellent collection of data for Iosco county, especially of AuSable? Also, if you have access to ancestry.com, the 1894 Michigan census there does include Iosco county. myra herron ----- Original Message ----- From: Joye<mailto:jphjp@webtv.net> To: miiosco@rootsweb.com<mailto:miiosco@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 08, 2007 2:04 PM Subject: Re: [MIIOSCO] Mystery Sandy, BIG SCOOP!!!
