Evening all, I am looking for the following two obits. Albert Tinnette dod 29 July 1964 Lincoln, Alcona, Michigan Louise Tinnette dod 25 April 1975 Oscoda, Iosco, Michigan Any help would be appreciated, Marge
Liz Murray? (Is that you?) Hey Liz. We have exchanged notes several years ago. Since then I have accumulated quite a bit of information. I do not have the obit for my grandmother, Margaret Ruth Wellington. However, I do have the obit for William Gerow b. 1861 d. 1936 and the obit for his father, William Gerow b. 1831 d. 1915. Also a considerable number of pictures you may be interested in. In fact, a lot of data has been collected since talking to you. Are you interested in sharing? Hi I just joined but when I click on this address http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/usa/mi/iosco.html that you sent me it doesn't come up? Is it right? If so what am I doing wrong? Thanks Larry b
Larry, try this instead...: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/usa/MI/iosco.html Looks like something has changed to make the URL case sensitive, so the lower case"mi" was making it fail. Wondering if there is anyone who lives in Tawas City that does tombstone photo's. I would like some from the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Email me offline skramer1221@woh.rr.com Thanks for any help Sue
Thanks Lawrence I had looked at the web page, but didn't get as far as the newspaper index. Found several of the family. Will send for the obits. Sue
Hello, I would search the Huron Shores Genealogy Societies Index list. You can find it by going to www.rootsweb.com/~miiosco, and going down and clicking on there name. It will bring up their index. I did a fast search there and Joseph Moland Boomer is listed in the News-Herald dated April 1930 for an obituary. He also shows on the Tax rolls for Tawas City and in the Iosco County Death Records index. If you can't get to Tawas, each index tells you how to order the information for a small fee. Anna's name shows on the News-Herald of March 1928 for an obituary. There are also other Boomers who show and might be relatives. The obituaries should give you some detail you're looking for. I'm so excited for you!! You hit a gold mine. It's imagining finds like that that keep a person digging. Go girl!! Yes, we go see Erik next week. Bob, Nikki, Kristi, Mike, Bryce & I are all going together. We've rented a van. I love road trips. A friend of Erik's, Kendra and her parents are also going. I can't wait to see him. Although I do have some sad news to give him. I had our dog, Cleo, put down on Thursday. It was hard to do after 13 years of companionship but past time I think. Erik always asked how she was doing in all his letters. It's going to be hard on him. There is only a 3 year age difference between them so he's had her around all his life. As far as I know the aunts are doing good. I do get to lunch with them on April 3. We have spring break then. This weekend I'm baby-sitting. Kristi & Mike have a free to Chicago so they left last night. Bryce is still sleeping so I better go get a few things done before he wakes up. Congratulations again on your find. <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
Sandy, BIG SCOOP!!! There are TWO OXFORDS in Ontario! Last night I found Joseph and Aurilla (OUR) Joseph and Aurilla on the 1851 census for OXFORD Twp of GRENVILLE CO. with James, WILLIAM, Solomon, JOSEPH and Mary Jane! Remember in the Smith book it says (on P 17) that there appeared to be 2 other children on the1861 census with the initials W and J--one older and one younger than Solomon, We sort of lost them with the move to Iosco Co. Imagine how excited I am! About William, I had already formulated the theory that he was one of them because he was a witness at Mary Jane's wedding. I found him on the 1870 Iosco Co. census and the dates check out. He had a daughter Rilla (Aurilla, I believe) so I think I am right about him. But as the message says--the family disappears. They were living in Au Sable. So far I can't find them on any other census nor can I find any death records. I have no lead yet on Joseph, It doesn't seem that either of them was around by the time Aurilla died in 1897. Since Reuben was born in Oxford in June of 1858 and Libby was born in Burford in May of 1861, I believe the Smith family remained in OXFORD ON RIDEAU (OXFORD TWP) of Grenville Co (NOT IN OXFORD CO) until 1859 or 1860. There is a TANNEY family there that I believe will connect with Aurilla. So now you know what I"m working on. I'd love any help you can give! When it all comes togetrher we'll have to send a little addend to all those who bought the book. How's Erik? Are you going to his graduation next week? How are you and how are the Aunts? Three cheers for the latest discovery! I don't have a William & Clara Smith so I can't help you. I'll start checking when I can though. If I find anything I'll let you know. <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com.
I may be repeating something you already know, but have you tried checking http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mi/iosco/3501hsgs.htm<http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mi/iosco/3501hsgs.htm> which is an excellent collection of data for Iosco county, especially of AuSable? Also, if you have access to ancestry.com, the 1894 Michigan census there does include Iosco county. myra herron ----- Original Message ----- From: Joye<mailto:jphjp@webtv.net> To: miiosco@rootsweb.com<mailto:miiosco@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 08, 2007 2:04 PM Subject: Re: [MIIOSCO] Mystery Sandy, BIG SCOOP!!! In the 1870 census William Smith (25) was living in AuSable with his wife Clara and 2 year old daughter Rilla. In 1872 William and Clara were witnesses at his sister's wedding. I can find no trace of the family after that date. Where did they go?
