I noted on the GenWeb site for Ionia, that indexes for naturalization papers had been done for some of the counties (unfortunately, not Ionia). These records are held at the Michigan State Archives. Would anyone have any other suggestion of where to search? My great great grandfather and is brother are both listed in the 1870 census as US citizens. I've exhausted all my other avenues to find out their parents' names so I can cross the water to Ireland. In 1870, they both lived in Portland Township, Ionia County. My great great grandfather was in the county by 1837. His brother may not have come until 1860 when he shows up living with their mother. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Joan in Illinois
