While reviewing the birth record indexes at the Library of Michigan in Lansing last week, we found several handwritten entries which had the designation "DR", "D.R." or "DR." We assume that the "DR" designates Delayed Report or something similar. The standard entries had one digit followed by 2 or 3 digits. ie: 3-249. The first digit represents the book number and the last 2 or 3 represent the page # of the book. Utilizing the index at the beginning of each year we could determine the county the birth happened in. However the DR births had a 2 or 3 digit number followed by a 4 digit number. ie: 131-0517. Can anyone explain how to determine what county the birth occurred in. The people at the information desk couldn't help, but suggested we call the State Vital Records Office at 517-335-8656. This number doesn't provide a live person, only a recorded message. Thanks in advance for your help. Al Wakenhut Researching: Wakenhut, Cramer, Geisenhaver, Deeg, Burke, Overley, Galligan, Vogler, Wert, Trim, Lackey, Letts
