David O. Mellinger and Edna L. Steuffer had at least two children born in Ionia County, MI. Robert David Mellinger (March 20, 1922- April 16, 1994) Helen A. Mellinger born in 1926 Robert was married several times.  His first wife, Mary, whom he married sometime after his WWII (?) service perhaps in Ohio, was also the mother of his daughter, Roberta Ann born in 1945 in Ohio.  He married Carol Mae Barkus (Drown) on Jan 22, 1955 in Ionia County, MI.  He also married later Ruth A. Esch Weaver in 1973 in Ionia, Michigan.
