Mrs. James Somerville 88yrs 2 mos 22 days 1849 Sailed from Scotland and after 2 month voyage on theWilliam Hitchcock reached America in the latter part of Augustlanding at New York he lived there two and a half yearsObituary Gavin Fellows, Sr., was born at Strathavion,Lanarkshire, Scotland Oct. 3, 1818.He being the second oldest in a family of nine children, causedhim to learn the weaver's trade when but seven years old, thistrade he followed for many years, weaving the finest of Parsley(paisley) shawls and silks, and in the meantime took a greatinterest in the Bee industry which he mastered with greatsuccess.June 31, 1842. the deceased was married to Miss Mary Wood ofGlasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and after a two months'voyagein the William Hitchcock reached America in the latterpart of August landing at New York, where he remained two andone- half years, following the trade of a Blacksmith andnight-watchman of a shipyard. Then he moved to Ypsilanti andthere became acuainted with John Thorburn of Delhi and by hi! skindness William Sommerville removed him by Ox team from Dexterto Delhi, Michigan in 1852.He then purchased the farm in Alaiedon that he still owns. Herehe resided until the death of his wife, April 20 1895. Sincethen he remained with his children.While in Scotland he united with the Presbyterian Church andbecome one of those sturdy pioneers who were not willing to stayin their native land, but wanted to seek a new home in thewilderness of America and thus he lived to reap the bountifulharvest of living a true, honest and charitable life; passingaway at two O'clock Friday morning, Jan. 25 1907, at the home ofhis daughter, Mrs. James Sommerville, being 88 years, two monthsand 22 days old.To him were born seven children, five of whom are living. asfollows: Mrs. J. G. (Q.) Thompson, Robert W. Fellows, Mrs. JamesSomerville, Mrs. Robert Hancock and Gavin Fellows, Jr.He also leaves a brother, Robert of Connecticut, besides fiveGrandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funera! l services were held Jan. 27, 907, at 2:00 p.m., conductedby Rev. W.H. Simmons. Interment in Maple Grove cemetery. OBITUARY from Farmington 2 Nov. 1911 Mrs. Robert Fallow, died at her home on Farmington avenue, Monday afternoon, at 2 O'clock after a few weeks illness from ills incident to old age. She was 79 years of age and had survived her husband six years. She is survived by Mrs. Arthur Moses of Unionville, a daughter, The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at her late at 1 O'clock and the service was conducted by Rev. Edward C. Fellowes of Unionville. THe body was taken to South Manchester for Burial. Her address in a directory gave 1772 Farmington Ave. East Cemetery Manchester, Hartford County, Connecticut The person who transcribed the cemetery mistkenly listed Jane and Agnes as wives of Robert actually Agnes was sister to Jane and never married, Jane and Agnes lived together before their deaths.
