I was wondering if there was anyone who would know where I might be able to inquire about naturalization records for my ggg grandfather. His name was Silas Woodland and he landed in New York on April 24, 1843. He met and married Mary McDermott and they moved to Michigan sometime before 1848 as their first child Betsey M. Woodland was born 5-12-1848 in Michigan. She later married Henry Barr. They had 4 other children, Charles M., (b. 1850, m. Flora Galloway), Eliza Jane (b. 12-12-1852, m. Rescome M. Harkness), Ella J. (b. 1855, d. 1883) and Maggie (b. 1856). They were settled in Ingham Township by the time of the 1850 census (if not by the time Betsey was born). As far as I know, all are buried at Felt Plains Cemetery. With the help of a friend, we have located a Silas Woodland in Somerset, England who was born in 1822, as was my Silas, and I'm hoping that Naturalization records will provide the proof I need that he is my ggg grandfather. I tried several years ago to obtain his death certificate, but was told it wasn't there (Ingham Co.). He died in 1887 according to his grave marking. He also served in the Civil war at the age of 41, but no records of this could be located either. Thank you in advance for any and all help, Christy
