Is it possible to get a birth record of a child born about 1938, probably in Lansing knowing only the mother's name? The mother was not married and about age 16 at that time. The child was adopted at birth. Would the mother's name be on the BC or would it have been arranged to put the adoptive parents name on the BC. If the birth took place in one of the small town just south of Lansing would the birth have been registered in Mason or Lansing. Are any of these records on line? Where could inquires be made and the cost of the lookup found.? Thanks Florence
