Casterlin was born March 8th, 1812 at Dover, Morris county, N.J., her maiden name being Lyon. At 18 years of age she was married C. S. Casterlin in Seneca county, N.Y. They came to Michigan and settled in Mason in 1869, which has been her home ever since. She united with the M.E. church over 50 years ago and her furneral was held at the M.E. church in this city last Thursday, Rev. Urch officiating. She was the mother of Chalon L. and Chas C. Casterlin of this city, and Dexter A. Casterlin of Charlotte, and S. V. Casterlin of Ionia, and who attended her funeral, as also Carrie Eaton of Jackson and W.A. and Carrie Bray of Albion. She also leaves J. B. Casterlin of Eureks, Cal., John A. Casterlin pf Ithaca, N.Y. and Nancy Metcalf of Romulus, N.Y. Her remains were interred in the Mason cemetery. All respect her. All respect her. Mason, Ingham Co., Democrat Thurs 14 Jan 1897 p1 Mrs. Harriet Casterlin died last Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son S. V. Casterlin in Ionia, aged 84 years. She died of old age. Her remains were brought here and funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o'clock at the M.E. church. She is the mother of C. L. and C. C. Casterlin of this city.
