Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1683.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Yes I'm the same Jim LaLone. Thanks for the info, have yet to get to the Library to do research but was hoping I could pick up some info along the way, especially from family members. I would like to research these people to see if they are French-Canadian. I have found that the spelling SAVIGNY is also Scottish (also von Savigny are from Germany). There are no Savignys in Ingham in the 1870 census and none living in Lansing now. I need to start going through City Directories when I get a chance. I have run across a few pictures taken by them and found some on-line but no history of the business. I have a couple of people who collect Lansing history to contact and pick their brains. Thanks for the response, Jim.

LaLone Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1683.1 Message Board Post: Mr. LaLone Hello! I checked at the Local History files in the main branch of the Capitol Area District Library in downtown Lansing. The only thing they had was a reference to an article from an 1891 Lansing paper. This is all that it says, F. J. Savigny has sold his interest in the photograph business to his former partner, H. J. Christmas. from The State Republican; Lansing, Michigan; Wed. June 10, 1891; page 4, column 1. Was also told that there MIGHT be more info in the David Cattarino Collection inside the Local History Room itself. If you would like to look more into this, contact David Votta at the library. (517-367-6363). He wasn't there at the time I was. Are you the same James LaLone from the Mid-Michigan Genealogical Society, who especially researched French-Canadian genealogy? Good Luck! Timothy

    2. In a message dated 12/18/2005 7:00:33 AM Central Standard Time, MIINGHAM-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: Ingham County has no record of his death certificate, so I am looking for help and suggestions of where else to look. You could try requesting it from the state at: _http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,1607,7-132-4645---,00.html_ (http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,1607,7-132-4645---,00.html) I have at least 2 instances where I obtained state-issued death cert's that Ingham County did not have in your same time frame. They may cost a bit more but they were worth it. Have you tried cemetery records or the Probate Office in Mason? Good luck, Sally

Campbell. He can be found in White Oak, Ingham, Michigan, in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census under the names E. N. Campbell, E.M. Campbell, and Ely N. Campbell. I have received a message from another researcher that he may also be found on the 1894 Michigan State Census in the same township. However, his wife, Angeline E. (Clark) Campbell is listed in Mason in the 1900 federal census as a widow, placing the time of death for Eli between 1894 and 1900. Ingham County has no record of his death certificate, so I am looking for help and suggestions of where else to look.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hFB.2ACE/1681 Message Board Post: I am looking for a lost cousin. In her mother's obit it says she was married and her name was Margaret Smith and living in Lansing. Her mother was Lillian Roach and married name was Ferens. Lillian was married to Andrew Ferens in 1940 in Gratiot County, Michigan. I checked with the count house in Ithaca, but they had no record of Lillian and Andrew's wedding. In Lillian's obit it says that she died on June 11, 1956. That would make her daughter about 15 or 16. Unless Margaret was not Andrew's daughter. That is all I know about Margaret. Any help appreciated. Thanks, susan

Do you know the cemetery she is in? The records may have some info on the funeral home & the funeral records are a good source. All funeral records are public records and all you have to do is ask for a copy, "if you can find the funeral home". A death certificate will probably only give the parents. Jeff
