He also entered service from MI. He was aboard the sub the USS Grunion when she disappeared on her maiden voyage in the Aleutians. It was last heard from in July 1942. the families weren't notified for about 2 months (for my own ancestor on the sub it came out in the papers on Sept 30 and Oct 1, 1942). Apparently they weren't declared dead until Aug 2, 1943. 70 men died on the submarine and nothing was ever known of it's possible fate until recently. Now a search will soon be underway to find it by the sons of the commander. I heard from them 2 weeks ago and have joined the search underway to see if I can find others related to the sailors who died as I think it is exciting! I would also appreciate any leads on relatives of this man.

She married Lawrence Farley in 1896 and they are a family in the 1900,1910, and 1920 US census farming in Rives, Jackson, Michigan. Lawrence died sometime after the 1920 census and Mable married Mr. Walton. He also must have died because on 26 Feb 1924 she married William A. Blackmore from Leslie. Mable knew the Blackmore family because her son Robert married Kathryn Louise Blackmore. William A was Kathryn's Uncle and he lost his first wife in 1915. Mable survived William who died in 1936. She lived until 1960 and did not marry again. She is buried in the cemetery in Leslie in the Blackmore plot. Does anyone have access to the local paper for the period between 1920 and 1924. I would love to know who Mr. Walton was. Thank You, Mary
Looking for information (anything) on Edward CRAFTS, my great-grandfather. He married Amanda TOWNSEND in 1842 in White Oaks Township, Ingham County, Michigan -- or West Somerset Township, Niagara County, New York, depending on which source you go by. Amanda Townsend's tree goes back to the 1700s and earlier. Is anyone researching, who might have information on Edward CRAFTS, born about 1810 or 1820 ?? (the dates are guesstimates) Edward CRAFTS and Amanda had nine children. From the birth and death dates of those nine children ( I received second hand) it would appear my paternal grandfather, Samuel CRAFTS was the only one of those nine to have children. Any suggestions or information will be appreciated. LKT
