Surnames: Hallock Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1058 Message Board Post: Am seeking information on Walter Edwin Hallock. He was born in Meaford, ONT in 1873. His parents were Lorenzo Dow and Sarah (Dewstow) Hallock. His parents along with Walter and brother Alfred Dow (my grandfather) moved to the Gratiot County area in the late 1800's. In 1899 our Hallock Family Bible notes that Walter was "killed" in Leslie, MI. leaving two young sons. Wife's name is unknown. Am searching for any information on Walter and family. If he was a resident of Leslie and particulars of the accident that he may have been involved in that led to his death. I thought perhaps something may be on file in Leslie. Or would appreciate suggestions as how to find our what I am searching for. Thank you. Bev - MI

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1056 Message Board Post: Hello! I appreciate all of the email and messages about looking things up at the Library of MI. Due to the setup at the library, I will not be honoring anymore requests. I am not impressed with the library's setup. What I have found is that you need to know like SPECIFICS to even locate your source of information! I, personally, think that is horrible because if I knew specifics, I wouldn't be down there researching!!! lol The library also does not have records on a lot of years. I have posted the years they lack in some responses in the previous thread about looking up things. They have a lot of information, but to find what you need, you need to know things to begin with :(( I do apologize for this, but I just don't want to waste anyone's time. You can contact the Vital Records office on MLK BLVD. here in Lansing for searches. ALSO...you might try the Lansing State Journal for records!! http://www.lsj.com Good luck and if there is something that I might have the ability to do for you, please let me know:)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1046.6.1 Message Board Post: You would need to know the year specifically. Then the county of death just to locate the fiche. Then once you find the fiche, you need to know the month. It is a horrible setup, I think, and then there are even some years that they do not even have. If you look at some of my other responses on here, you will be able to see the specifics on what they have.

You would need to know county of death first...then the year...then the month in order to just find the fiche.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/935.2.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Hi Thomas, you asked abt. C. N. Bevins & whether he is in Cabot Cem. Well, I don't believe so, but there are no old records of that cemetery available, just whats on the gravestones remaining. However, at one time, C.N. was a owner of a plot in Dansville's Fairview Cemetery. At that time, it was called the Dansville Burying Ground. Of the original 36 lots, C.N. Bevins owned Lot 25, which is presently in Section 2, lot 114 today. The only gravestone on that lot is Roxanna Bevens (wf of C.N.) who died 16 Oct 1866. It would be an assumption, that he is buried there also, with no gravestone.
