    1. Lookup in Death Index for state of MI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Armstrong, Capen Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1651 Message Board Post: I was wondering if anyone would be willing to look in the state index of deaths and tell me if there is a listing for one of my ancestors. I think that she died in MI and have a date (based on handwritten records) but do not know what county. I would like to know so that I could request a death record. Her name was Julia Ann Capen (maiden Armstrong) and she died in May 1888 but I would assume that a greater range of dates is possible. Her husband was Randall T Capen and she was born in CT in 1825. I would really appreciate it if anyone would be willing to do this lookup for me. Thanks! Afton

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFB.2ACE/1584.2 Message Board Post: My grandfather was also placed in the industrial school for boys. He was abandoned by his mother when he was 5 and placed in Coldwater Institute in Battlecreek. After years of being sent from one family to another, he ran away from the Institute. He was caught and sent to Industrial School for Boys. I spoke to someone years ago and they told me that children were sent there for doing "delinquent" offenses, such as running away(which was the case with my grandfather). I tried to get those records, but I was told they are sealed and I would have to get a court order to get them. If you have had any luck, please let me know. My e-mail address is Eamonod1@cox.net Thanks.

    1. Re: Judson
    2. To Norma813 --- Wow - Judson's! If you are related, do you know any of the old family stories about the King family? I have spent the last couple of years piecing the family together - The Kings and the Barkers came over from England together. They are interrelated. They went to Washtenaw County first, then spread around in Ionia, Van Buren and other counties. Sarah came from Van Buren to marry your George Judson. I am still missing family members, I am sure. This family stuck together in packs - and a number ended up around Leslie - but I don't know who was there to draw Sarah (and a few others) there. Or were Sarah and George acquainted because of their mutual roots in Washtenaw County? Ann Marr

    2. I'm new to this list and would like to add my surnames to this mix in hopes of finding some new info. My names are Makeley (Makely), Zacheriah b. abt 1818 NY moved to MI abt 1860. Zacheriah's parents are William Makely and Christine Harvey. Zachariah married two or three times. First wife from NY was Sally Ann? The second wife was Emily and the possible third was Emaline. Fred is married to a Sarah? Frederich born abt 1834 in NY. By 1880 census he has moved on to Clinton Co. MI. Then there is Slaughter, John J. married to Sarah Jane Robertson and family (most children born NY). John b. 1826, Sarah b. 1831 both in Yates Co. NY Sarah's parents are Robert Robertson and Sophia Yeckley. John's parents are Jonathan Slaughter and Mary Maria Crispell. I know that John and Sarah lived in Aurelius in Ingham Co. MI. Looking for any and all information on these two family names from MI end of line, have some info to share from NY end of line. Any one of these families?
