Stajduhar is my grandmother's maiden name. She came here with her parents, Joseph and Antoniya. She had a brother - Joseph - who was much older and remained behind with his wife in Yugoslavia. When my grandmother started school, they changed her last name to Steiner. Her first name was Antoinette, but for some reason she was called Pauline. I do not have much info on her family I was trying and ran into road blocks. I do know she had an uncle ( not sure if he is still living) Michael Sterk who was also here in the states. Not too sure of the relation. I think it was Antoniya's brother. If you have anymore info, please share. Thanks so much. How are you connected to the Sachen name? I have a bit more info on them. I don't have any connection with the name Sachen that I know of. Here is the information I have on the names that you have showed interest in. My husband's mother is Croatian and was born in Crested Butte, CO where Croatians came to work in the mines. When many of them shut down some moved to Montana and it seems some came to the UP to work in the mines. I'm sure there must be some connection. Mary Rudman married Martin Mihelic and had Mathias Mihelic in Crested Butte CO on 10-21-1901 and Mariam on 1-10-1898 John L Rozman b 8-24-1910 in Crested Butte married 1938 to Mary Sedmak. John's parents were Martin Rozman and Anna Bajouk Katherine Rudman married George Kapuscin and Had Katherine Kapuscin who married Mathias Starika and John Emil Kapushion in 1900 John Emil married Mary Frances Verzuh May Stafhar married Michael Fisher and their cau Catherine was born 4-26-1905 in crested Butte Co Slavojub Stajdohar married Ljubica Vadjina and they had Mathew, Albert Sophia, and ? and Rose , Rose was born in Karlovac Jugoslavia and died in Chicago. She married William Vinko Arbanas born 1-15-1891 in Velika Gorcia Jugoslavia. Their son William b 1918 married my husband's cousin. Antonia Stajduhar married Peter Ribic 11-22-1918 in Gunnison Co Antonija Stadjduhar married Peter Fisher and had James Paul in 1916, Rudolph in 1918 and Rose in 1920 in Crested Butte Co Francis Stajduhar married Veronica Gregoric, their son Gregory Stajduhar married Katherine Mufic in 1906 in Crested Butte and had Rose 1907. and Rudolph in 1912 George Stajduhar married Francisca Majetic Katherine Stajduhar was born Feb 27, 1890 in Maledraga Yugoslavia and died in 1958 iun Crested Butte she married Anton Verzuh 1910 . He was born in Lukovdal, Yugoslavia When Joahn A Verzuh(son of Katherine Stajduhar and Anton Verzuh) died in 1992 in Gunnison Valley Hospital the pallbearers were Trent Tulin, Trent Snyder, Roger Rozman, Edward Rozman, Larry LeMay and Gib Kysar. So their must be a different connection between Stajduhar and Rozman here also!!!! Katherine Stajduhar born 1-21-1867 and married Andrew Arbanas a brother to my husband grandfather Mathew Arbanas. Their children were all born in MaleDragae Jugoslavia so came to US after 1888.
