Tormod,  With just a quick search, I did not see them in the 1900 census (the 1890 was mostly destroyed).  I think you will have to give more information for a better search.  It is the usual that Gulbrand would change to Gilbert, and probably Marit to Mary, sometime Martha, but not always.  But, also they could have used Gullbrand's  patronymic name  (or sometimes of the sons), so you need to give that. It would help to have years of birth for all of them, and where each was born -- Norway or Michigan or whatever.
