Church records are a great source, if you know their church. If you are using a computerized search with Ancestry.com or Genealogy.com; try misspelling the last name. Names were frequently misspelled by the census taker as well as the transcriber who created the data base. Always search for the "head of household"; usually the husband's 1st name.
