    3. I received the McDonald Death Certificates I ordered and they have raised several questions. Margaret McDonald died May 5, 1887. She is listed as married. Jonathan McDonald died two years later, Aug. 19, 1889. There are several possibilities. Either he is not the John McDonald that she was married to, although the ages seem right. The certificate is wrong and he was widowed. He married someone else after Margaret died. Unless someone can find another John McDonald on the 1900 census for Quincy, I will have to assume that he is the right one. The other puzzle was that they couldn't find a DC for Margaret's son Angus. Could someone please check in 1900 and/or 1910 for Angus McDonald and his wife Lillian. I think I asked for this lookup before but never got it -- unless my computer dumped it. TIA Marion Markham

    3. Hi, 1900 has 5 Angus's in Houghton county or surrounding counties and 1910 has 3. What would Angus's age been in these years? None with a wife Lillian. Did Angus have a brother James? 3. Colleen, From the 1870 census: John & Margaret McDonald, parents. Children: Donald, 20, James, 17, John 15, Angus, 12, Margaret 11, Ronald 8, Mary, 5. All born in Scotland except Mary, who was born in Michigan. So, by 1900 Angus would have been around 42. He had a daughter, Lorna/Laura in 1893 with Lillian, but Lilliam might have died before 1900. Or her name may have looked like something else on the census. Laura was known in my family as Lolie, which could also be a nickname for Lillian. The Scots are so confusing because they kept reusing names. The trail is even muddier back on the Isle of Skye where they all came from. As always, thanks.
