Hi Jean, As far as my sources go, i do not know of anyone who would have a directory from that far back.Sorry, Alicia -----Original Message----- From: Jean Junkin [mailto:jjunkin@up.net] Sent: Friday, November 22, 2002 2:43 PM To: MIHOUGHT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MIHOUGHT] Nicholas Martin Alicia, does anyone have access to the city directories for the 1800's. I'm still looking for my great grandfather John Girgen and his wife Elizabeth Young. I think they arrived in the copper country sometime after 1868. From 1864 until 1868 they were in Rockland. That is where their 2 sons were born. Any help is appreciated. For those interested in Polk's Houghton County Directories, this might be helpful. These are volumes I have searched. I have not seen any before these, but I believe that other volumes follow into 1910 or even later. Vol. I (1895-1896) Vol. II (1897-1898) Vol. III (1899-1900) Vol. IV (1901-1902) Vol. V (1903-1904) Vol. VI (1905-1906) Vol. VII (1907-1908) For those who do not live in the Houghton area, you might be interested to know of other possibilities. I have searched the films for these directories at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IN. I believe that the State Library of Michigan in Lansing also has the films. The Allen County Library will provide a list of local researchers upon request. Hope this information might help some researchers. Joseph Martin Romeoville, IL USA
Could you please look up the Rozman Family for me? Not sure of the year though.
