David, Try tracking them down in a census and then you'll know where to look for a marriage. The 1870 Census is online and searchable by head of household. Images of each page included at: http://envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870_census/ Michigan works on the county system for the most part so you need to find where they were first. The state indexes are on film at the state library but I don't think they go back to before 1867 when the state made it a law that all vitals had to be recorded and sent into the state from the counties. Before that it was up to the counties to keep marriage records. Other vitals were not kept before 1867. The county records are still the most reliable place to get records as opposed to the state.
