We have translated it, and are now searching for one of the beneficiaries who I have traced to the USA (arrival in Sept. 1910 Ellis Island, bound for Hancock MI). I have the manifest of his ship and also the Passenger data from the Institute for Migration (Turku). The problem is that although the probate record has him "in America", I can't find him in ANY US Census. I suspect he may have gone across the border to Canada by 1920. He was single when he came over and a laborer. Here is my message on the Ontario Message Board at Rootsweb: "Salovaara John Ontario Canada" This is a listing from the Institute of Migration (Finland) Emigrant Register. I am searching for any data on Johan (Juho Nestor) who was born in 1866 in Marttila into the Lautakoski family, who changed his name to Salovaara. In Aug. 1910 he left Pertteli parish and came to the US (via Ellis Island), headed for Hancock Michigan. He was alive in 1930, per a probate document from Helsinki courts, and living in North America. His sisters were in Somero parish at this time; they also inherited " Any ideas where records regarding this young Finn might be housed or any sources for tracing him would be greatly appreciated.
