Hi Mary I believe that Kahkola was actually his real name but in Finland it is spelled Kähkölä. He states that he came in the U.S. in 1905, his real first name was Hannu . He must have shortened it to Hans. Emigrant records , he was from Tervola Finland . A quick search on the Hiski link in Finland does find the Kähkölä's in Tervola , Lapland , up to about 1860.
