I believe her maiden aname was Mary Elizabeth Gray, since Benjamin Gray's obituary from 1916 lists as a survivor, "Mrs. Mary Phillips of Colorado". She is deceased by 1928, according to her sister's obituary. The 1880 census shows James as being born in 1850 in England, and Mary born 1860 in England.
