I am just beginning my search for information on my grandfather, Mathew Kononen. He married my grandmother, Hilda Johnson (Johanson at Ellis Isle) Michigan. My mother was born in Detroit in 1929, and Grandfather died March 5, 1939 in San Francisco, apparently from an accident while on duty with the Border Patrol (but I cannot find anything about that). He is buried at the Presidio. I attached the only picture my mother has of him. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
