My great grandfather, Nicholas KAPTUR, worked as a miner at the Tamarack mine from 1887 to 1903. Born in the Poznan province of Poland, he attended St. Anthony of Padua Church in what was Red Jacket. He was a member of the Polish Benevolent Society of Hussars of John Sobieski the Third in Red Jacket and served as both secretary and treasurer of the Zwiazek Narodowy Polski, a local group of the National Polish Alliance. Would anyone on this list know of Calumet resources where I might locate more information about these organizations or the church? Anyone have old postcards to sell? I do check eBay regularly.
