Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.houghton/4688/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Well I am not sure about calumet but Houghton has the Houghton County Courthouse in which you can look up Death, Marriage and Naturalization records but you have to call before showing up because they have limited space (906) 482-1150 is their number. and then also in Houghton is the MTU Archives and they have polk directories, census, newspapers on microfilm and really nice people to help you find just about anything. Their web page is http://www.lib.mtu.edu/mtuarchives/ Check out what is available at the archives. Houghton is about 12 miles from Calumet. Marjorie

    3. Calumet is in Houghton County, and all legal documents are in the County Courhouse in Houghton. The ladies that work there are very, very helpful and patient people working on genealogy research.
