The 1860 census was the key. Her mother was Deborah Ann Steel, who married Oscar Bronson. From what you sent I can tell this is our line. Sarah E.'s mother was written as Deborah Bronson born in N.Y. We know that our Deborah was born in Hunts Hollow N.Y. Also your census showes a Charles O. age three. The O probably was for Oscar, His, I think was his(then dead) fathers name. I think he was dead because he is not mentioned on the Census as head of house. Deborah was listed as female, farmer, born in N.Y. I will follow these leads. I am sending for Sara E. (Elizabeth's death certificte in Calif. Just wanted to share the joy we feel because you went the extra research mile. Oh the dates seem to be in the right time frame.

    1. RE: [MIHOUGHT] 1930 Census
    2. Hi Barbara, You have to look at the number on the extreme right hand side of the upper corner. I just looked at it and it is page 29 of 34.Once in awhile i do not find the name listed that is suppose to be there. I also dont use the search part, i go directly to the census year, then go down and pick michigan and then the right county. This works when you know the ed# and page number. Alicia Subject: [MIHOUGHT] 1930 Census Does anyone know how to translate the census listing as to page and ED to the actual census sheet? My Uncle living in Calumet in 1930 is listed on the index as page 12B,ED 15 (it will not come up using the index). How can I get to that record? 3. These are the ones. Can you look them up in the other censuses that you have available as well? Can you also look up a Charles Torvinen or Dorvinen with a daughter Anna. Try the 1880 for this one. In 1900, Anna will probably have moved out and married John Olson. 3. Hi, I am new to the List and I would like post my family info born in Houghton County. Is anyone else researching this family in Houghton? My grandfather was: Colen William Hungerford, b. 1884 in Calumet, Houghton, Michigan. His father was Joseph E. B. Hungerford, who moved to Sault Ste. Marie and was lockmaster there for 35 years. In 1910, Colen was living in Laurium and the 1910 Census shows Colen's occupation as "newspaperman." I am trying to find out which newspaper he worked for. Does anyone know the names of the newspapers published in Houghton in 1910? Thank you. Mimi Hungerford
